The idea of adult Hansel & Gretel being in the witch-killing business is not bad, but the execution is. The movie is primarily dumb. If it was as funny as it is dumb, that would've been ok, but it wasn't. So what do we have: a cookie-cutter story, bad one-liners and shoddy special effects with bolt-on '3D-moments'. As I said, I liked the premise and some small ideas like Hansel suffering from diabetes. The rest is very forgettable.

I expected a bad movie, but I got a fun action movie with a surprising high amount of enjoyment. It is fast paced with good action. Yes the story is really thin, but that's to be expected from a movie like this. In the end the story was actually better than I expected it to be. Filled with cliché's and all, but enjoyable. Can't call it a bad movie.

This might have done better had they just stuck to a plain old witch-hunting adventure film, rather than embroil us in a rather dull familial back story that really just clutters the whole thing up. This is a movie which you watch for the action and the special effects and pretty much nothing else. As such it is a excellent movie. The original story of Hansel & Gretel is essentially only used to boot this movie. The movie itself plays out when Hansel & Gretel are adult witch hunters.
