The fifth and final film of the _Happy Hour_ series (also known as _Senses_), is called 'Taste' for absolutely no reason known to God or man. The best moments of the film, for me, were the disputes. You could feel the characters were exploding with anger despite the monotone whisper of their tiny robot voices and the absence of emotion beneath the sheen of their little automaton faces. After seeing the final (?) film of the series, I'm prepared to rate the pentalogy a soft recommend. The third and fourth installments hurt the series, but the films at the beginning and end make the overall experience a pleasant one.

I saw _Senses 1 & 2_ in one sitting and loved the ambiance of the films. One week later I saw _3 & 4_ and was slightly less enthusiastic. It's like a club where the bouncer lets in the beautiful people but then has to accept their normal friends because they're all part of the same group.

Like a nice lunch on the terrace with good friends. There's nothing special about the food or the friends or the sunshine, but you get more than your fill and enjoy it more than you thought you would.

I watched it for 3 weeks, 20-30 min at a time (this is a mini-series, I was explaining to myself, at least 5 parts) . I was not ready at all for the slow flow, for unemotional dialogues (are Japanese from another planet?), for stingy scenery and, in my opinion, the absence of any attempt at editing. Yet as an aftertaste, Happy Hour is a great, subtle and deep movie about life, friendship, feelings and mindfulness.
