A major nosedive from the first. This spoonfeeds you the whole lore from the more generic second half of the prequel movie and is sideloaded with non-subtle "scares" and meh acting. Another one for the "less is more" pile.

It felt like the filler episode of a story, just here for exposition and little more.
It had nothing of entertainment value of itself but it has left me wanting to see where they take the 3rd entry.

I decided to give this series another chance based on reviews of the first movie. I watched the director’s cut of HH1, then watched HH2: The Abaddon Hotel last night. I don’t think I can continue on to HH3 cuz I can’t think of a movie that should exist less than HH2. Excruciating acting, illogical plot devices to explain why *everything* is on film… this felt like a cash grab. It made no sense and wasn’t even entertaining!

This sequel is mostly stupid and comes off as trying too hard but it is still a pretty fun watch. The first half of the film is so awful that I considered turning this off. The acting is consistently bad pretty much the entire runtime. The talk show part is pure cheese and it's incredibly unrealistic how a 'morning show' airs something like ghost investigations :skull:. But it gets better as the film goes. There are lots of terrifying moments once it reaches the second half. The scares are all impactful and the location is used so efficiently this time. Definitely less effective than the first but still a worthwhile entry and I appreciate the addition to the lore of the hotel.

why oh why did they have to make a sequel to the first one. This was an abomination of characters you find annoying stuck in a haunted house where nothing seems to really happen. Its just a lot of cut scenes to a talk show and interrogation and maybe 2 scenes with creepy dolls and the clown. if I didn't find the main female lead to be so beyond irritating, I might actually be invested in seeing them get out but I'm actually cheering on the creepy clown at this point.

The previous reviewer is right, sometimes less is more and this franchise should have stuck with the first one and left it at that. Literally, there is an overwrought and overacted scene in this when they turn around and a door is open. The scariest scene in the whole movie. Yawn

After a surprisingly great first film, the sequel tries to hit on all the same notes…but feels more forced. It’s still a serviceable horror movie and sequel, it’s just simply not as good. There’s certainly still an audience for this movie! So if you loved the first, this is worth watching!
