Holly Star is and entertaining low-budget holiday film. After losing her job in New York Sloane returns home for the holidays and takes a job at a Christmas tree lot, but when she hits her head and has a vision from her childhood of a Santa burying a bag of money she seeks the help of her best friend to uncover the mystery of the buried money and find it. Katlyn Carlson leads the cast and gives a strong performance; making for a fun, likable character. And the comedy is pretty well done; mixing satire and slapstick. Also, the puppetry motif is cleverly used and has an interest aesthetic. Still, the plot is rather weak and the ending seems shoehorned in. Yet while it has some problems, Holly Star is an enjoyable lighthearted comedy.
