Beating a dead horse, the Home Alone franchise delivers a fifth installment _The Holiday Heist_. When a team of art thieves attempt to break into a suburban house in Maine to steal an elusive painting, they must first go through 10-year old Finn Baxter, who’s determined to protect is house and his sister while his parents are away at a Christmas party. Christian Martyn is completely miscast as Finn, and is a major detriment to the film. And the thieves aren’t really all that villainous; making it difficult to take pleasure when they fall into Finn’s traps, particularly since they don’t know Finn and aren’t trying to hurt him. There are a couple cute jokes, but for the most part the humor is rather bland and none of the slapstick really works. _Home Alone: The Holiday Heist_ is a pointless film that has strayed far, far from the original.

Well, it's not bad but it's not good either. At least it's better than the previous horrible "Home Alone 4: Taking back the house".
"A tablet computer with a pink case", come on writers, have you ever heard a teen saying that?!!!

Most review of this I've found say something like "not as bad as I expected." Add me to the list. But, that doesn't mean it's any good.

Not as bad as I thought it would be... Had some funny moments during the last half of the movie. Not quite the Christmas classic of the original, though.

Well it's better than the sequels that followed the second one at least.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! This is a very bad movie - in fact, it's so bad and stupid - it's actually kinda funny. LOL

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

It's okay, but definitely deviates heavily from the original formula of the original two movies. The characters are superficial and stereotypical. The first half of the movie is generic family banter that is kinda realistic, but doesn't drive the plot in any meaningful way.

The kid doesn't ever become home alone, as in at home by himself. Only after 45m, which is half way through the film, he has the majority of the house to himself. Even then, his sister is
still in the basement.
An hour in to the movie he creates some basic traps for the intruders.

The intruders are an okay attempt at comedic relief, but are not well written at all. Malcolm McDowell's character really only shines in a brief scene
in the basement
.

The ending fell completely flat and was predictable. The film, twice, dissed Kevin McCallister's signature bathroom shocked face thing. Didn't even try to mimic it; just flat out said "nah." So lame.

The highlight of the film was the snowball kid Mason's character and the sister. Both got laughs out of me.

The film wasn't trash, but I would consider it below average and unremarkable at best.
