After moving to a small town, former DEA agent Phil Broker (Jason Statham) and his 9-year-old daughter Maddy (Izabela Vidovic) encounter trouble with a local drug lord Morgan 'Gator' Bodine (James Franco).

Homefront is your typical Jason Statham action flick but with a little more heart than most of them normally have. Despite opening with a not unusual shootout, Broker tries to live a retired and quiet life with his daughter, but it doesn't take very long before he's strung into action. Most of the action is down to earth and not overtop the gun fights and explosions. Gary Fleder tries to keep it realistic which I liked.

James Franco as a villain, I did not expect the kind of performance he put in. For someone who is usually known for comedic roles, he plays a real good drug lord. He seems to always be in control. The introduction to his character , while intense, he was made to not be a complete monster with no real feelings.

It was a pretty simple story that doesn't do anything new, but the pacing was slightly off. Not sure why the scene of Statham kicking ass at a gas station was necessary. While I did think it was cool, I feel like they added it just so the viewer doesn't go too long without some action. The biker gang scenes were a complete waste of time and this movie could of done with just Broker vs. Gator instead of adding them in. I guess it was also added so people can watch Statham kick more ass.

Overall, this was a pretty fun action flick minus a couple of unnecessary scenes. 6/10.
