Horse Girl shows the struggle of a woman that, little by little, loses her ability to differentiate reality from her delusions. It's not precisely about lucid dreams bleeding into her waking life, so the synopsis might confuse and create different expectations for this movie.

The plot follows Sarah in her daily life and struggles, and it does a good job of showing the confusion she experiences without the narrative becoming downright confusing. The characters are well-balanced and seem like real people, and the acting is good.

Still, the movie seems pointless. Perhaps this simply isn't the movie for me, but it felt like there was no point to be made. The ending is lacking and maybe went a little too far into showing Sarah's delusions, breaking a bit of the rest of the movie's pace. The horse plays an interesting but very minor part, and while added a dimension to Sarah's character, it felt like it should've been more prominent throughout the movie.

Honestly, both the title and the synopsis can be quite misleading into what to expect from this. That may be why I didn't enjoy this movie or why I found it to be pointless, but for people who like movies that blur reality, explore mental illnesses, and is a slice of life, it might still be worth a watch.
