I'm not sure what it was but this was really lacking something for me. It took too long to get going and then just didn't have enough go.

I personally wouldn't compare it to Despicable Me as have been in the comments (though that may be unfair as I absolutely love it) as there is just no comparable action, many of the the jokes just didn't land for me and the visual gags wore thin, some just from repetition.

No Zing here I'm afraid.

Good movie, but i was not that excited about.

A friend of mine had watched it before and said that it was not that great. Then I watched it (in French) and found it hilarious. I don't know if the film is funnier in French or if it is just that cute, but I really liked it.

Not overly keen on this film (the sequel was marginally better.) I felt it was lacking something and I'm not quite sure what. It's definitely not memorable.

Certainly no Pixar!

Ignore all the comments about the movie's humor and the message. This is a wonderful work of animation, amazing for kids, and a funny movie with laughs along the way. Strongly suggest you watch.

Cute, funny and I like a lot of the characters! Adam Sandler and Andy Sandberg find a way to work together again and it's a pretty good animated film for all ages.

"Hotel Transylvania" has a built-in advantage because it's based on the Universal Monsters characters. These timeless creations are treated with respect here and are lovable in their animated versions. Fortunately, the other main characters, Jonathan (Andy Samberg) and Mavis (Selena Gomez), are also appealing and serve as worthy challenges to Dracula (Adam Sandler).

The animation and voice work are solid. The story is simple but not thread bare. Overall, this is a light-hearted movie that will be fun for kids and has enough chuckles for adults. The only thing that I don't understand is the need for so many of these animated movies to feature their main characters singing, rapping, dancing, etc. All of these movies conclude happily anyway. It's like heaping sugar on top of ice cream. How sweet does it have to get?

Hilarious film. Don't heed the low ratings. Too many gooseheads trying to find deeper meaning in a comedy. Take it for what it is and enjoy it.

The only thing good about this movie is the memes that came from it.

Back in the day, I had unfortunate experiences with Genndy Tartovsky's animated creations; I couldn't stand _Codename: Kids Next Door_ or his version of _Clone Wars_ because of the hideous character designs. Before starting this movie, I had no idea he was responsible for it.

Still, I decided to stick with it...and I was glad I did! Excellent animation, plenty of humor and action, wonderful voice work (including a surprising appearance by Fran Drescher), and a sweet story. This time, Mr. Tartovsky got it right. I'm glad I have the sequel on hand.

This was a great movie. The plot was good and the story was greatly written. And the voice actors... 6/5

Formulaic but entertaining, _Hotel Transylvania_ puts a unique new spin on classic monster characters. Seeking to protect his daughter, Dracula builds a monster sanctuary called Hotel Transylvania that’s protected from the human world; but when a wayward human hiker finds his way to the hotel the sanctuary is threatened. Featuring Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, and Kevin James, the film is loaded with comedic talent. And though most of the jokes are obvious, they’re told well-enough so that they don’t seem stale or trite. Even with all of its clichés, _Hotel Transylvania_ works and comes off as a sincere and fun children’s film.
