This is a film that manages to be artistic, beautiful, and horrific, all at the same time. It’s like a magnificent dream that turns into a madly-edited, sinister nightmare later on. Definitely recommend this to fans of Japanese films, Horror films, and just film fans in general.

I like the dreamlike imagery and goofy style. The characters are cartoonish. The story isn't so interesting to me. I got a bit tired of that song that plays constantly. This movie seems more of a showcase of exellent trippy effects.

Story 2/10
Acting 0/10
Characters 1/10
Special Effects -5/10

And yet this is still one of the best movies I've ever seen. Not because it's good because because it's so absolutely god awfully terrible that it makes it hilarious. House somehow manages to be both mind-numbingly trash and amazingly brilliant simultaneously.

If you want to take your movies seriously definitely do _not_ watch this, but if you hate yourself, or love trash movies, and you can't think of anything to watch give this a go. Overall 8/10.

Considering this movie is mentioned in many conversations about the origins of survival horror games, I wasn't expecting such a goofy movie.

This movie was not for me. I think it had a lot of interesting aspects and effects, but overall it just has not aged well. The stereotypes for the girls was uncomfortable, and even more uncomfortable was the excessive nudity of the schoolgirls (especially given how childishly they were portrayed). There's not much story to be found, and I think that hurts the film overall. It's definitely experimental and weird, which I normally love, but at the end of the day it doesn't do enough to feel like more than a surreal exploitation film.

This was a very strange and unique film. Can’t really find the words for it but in short I was entertained and that’s enough.

-edit: massive photosensitivity warning: there are just.... all of the flashing color-alternating light stobelight effects throughout the entire movie

House is a visual triumph. it is a bizarre conglomeration of visual and musical bizarreness that you will do well to put at the top of your viewing list.

i am a massive fan of the sub-90 minute movie genre and this is absolutely stunning. a film that has visuals at the forefront, it's an incredible feat which was made over 45 YEARS AGO

if you are of the ... (legalized)drugs persuasion, partake and watch. it is a spectacle unlike anything i've ever seen before.

In a world of psychedelic cats, diabolic repetitive piano and trippy visuals seven schoolgirl friends visit a house that has everything to show them - Litterally! They probably used every filmmaking style and technique that exists including slow-motion, stop-motion, black and white, animation, CGI, practical effects, montage... and an unhealthy amount of artistic editing! It starts as an euphoric weird slice-of-life drama and very slowly transcends into horror, before finishing how it started. It's very original because of all this but very nonsensical, even though that was clearly the point. It's very much like *Twin Peaks* you just have to shut your brain off and enjoy the trippy LSD journey.

Shoutout to Blanche, the cat.

This is the best possible result for a studio executive asking a tv commercial director to come up with a movie like Jaws.

Oh boy, where do I start... The movie is.. extremely random, I've never seen so many things happening at the same time and they were just keeping throwing more things... But honest opinion, this movie is quite funny actually, pain in the ass about these girls, the soundtrack is a mess, there's a lot of plot holes and errors, also what is wrong with the sky all the time? what is too hard to shot? Another thing, it felt like I was watching an anime live-action comedy sitcom. About the effects, I presumed they were intentional to be like that because no human would think that it was okay to put these on the movie if they were intentional, good job because I loved it, if not Jesus christ what did they smoked and can I have some?

Overall, This movie is a mess, but a beautiful one.

Huh... this is weird. So, right out of the box I'll tell you all not to approach this as a horror film. They call it a horror film on Wikipedia, but it is not that at all. Actually, I don't really know what to call it... It's a movie.

For rating a film, I think there is one primary factor to consider; what is the filmmaker's goal? If they set out to make a scary horror film and succeed, then good film indeed. If they set out to make a serious drama and it is slapstick comedy, then they made a bad film. Sure, sometimes they are so over the top that they're fun to watch, but that makes them good entertainment instead of a good film.

At first I thought this was a sort of bad film, but then it seems apparent that all of this ridiculousness was completely intentional. None of these scenes are even trying to get you scared. Instead they are getting you to enjoy the absurdity to the limit. Going into this with the correct expectations will probably help your entertainment.
