Can somebody go and check on Jared Leto?
His performance in this is so fucking funny to me, it should easily guarantee him a Razzie nomination.
Every artistic choice this guy makes has to be the most overblown and ridiculous thing ever, whether that’s in his acting or his music.
I wonder if he’s still capable of delivering a good performance when he doesn’t get to hide behind make-up and eccentricities.

Not to say that the other actors are faring much better, pretty much everybody sounds like they’re doing a parody of an Italian accent, it sounds ridiculous to my ears.
Some sound like they’re trying to imitate Mario, it’s that classic “ah, mamma mia, pizzeria” shtick that everyone does when they make fun of Italians.
The only problem is: this isn’t a parody film, and the only actor that doesn’t completely overdo it is Adam Driver.
I just don’t get creative choices like this, especially from a directing legend like Ridley Scott.
You’d assume that most of these conversations were in Italian in real life, so nobody would care if you’d ditch these accents in an English language film, because it isn’t going to be realistic anyway.
As for the film itself, I’d advise anyone to simply pretend that this is meant to be a campy comedy, because it’s not that good as an Oscar drama.

kind of messy and boring... but I had fun
- it seems that the film has a lot of things to show but it gets too lost in the construction: at first I had the impression that the focus would be totally and absolutely on the couple formed by Patrizia and Maurizio, the film doesn't even mention the history of the brand, it doesn't contextualize anything..... already in the final half hour the brand reappears FROM BEYOND and the dialogues are based on Gucci's own business and Lady Gaga's character does not appear for a while, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO HOUSE OF GUCCI?
- but let's be honest, the movie is fun, it will probably amuse you (even if it's hugely big)
- Lady gaga is very well as Patrizia, full of personality, strong, powerful, I loved her!! I can't say the same about jared leto's clumsy, clueless acting...for God's sake, every second he appeared I rolled my eyes harder, a performance that for me was extremely forced and irritating
- Al Pacino is amazing along with Jeremy Irons and Adam Driver...hm ok, I've seen better of him but it's ok
- it's worth watching, but don't expect anything grand or out of the box

This movie really struggled with pacing. All the time I found myself surprised at how big the jumps in time were, even though everything is chronological. Overall I think they were working from a compelling story but just couldn't quite tell it in a way that was captivating. The film could only hold my attention for half of its length.

I quite enjoyed this movie, the acting was on point, I was afraid that the fake Italian accent might be bothering, but it didn’t, just in some moments when I felt an inconsistency in Al Pacino’s accent, The shooting angles were exceptional in some moments especially at the beginning of the film, the music was alright in the majority of the time I just felt a little awkwardness in the
wedding scene
when that song started playing as I felt it wasn’t matching with how the track of event is going, Jared Leto was exceptional in his role, I liked Adam Driver as well, but that wasn’t a surprise as he’s one of the most talented actors of his generation, Lady Gaga was surprisingly convincing in her role and was able to keep up with Driver and Leto, but I must say Al Pacino was my biggest disappointment in this movie, his inconsistency was just annoying at times, I only felt that he was actually doing his job in the scene where
his son told him that he sold his shares
The movie was 158 minutes, but I did not feel boredom at all. In general, it was an enjoyable movie I wouldn’t be surprised if it got a couple of Oscar nominations

Has its moments and is well shot but had a hard to time really getting in to this, though guess I enjoyed the chaos and backstabbing within the family. On the other hand, found the Italian accents to be laughable at times and Jared Leto was just ridiculous under that makeup (in conjunction with his accent). Not terrible and at least watchable, though could've been a tad shorter. **2.75/5**
