A manly thriller for men. This can be quite controversial according to Gillette. To make up for any hurt feelings, there is a scene that shows the president is a Woman. Something for everyone then. A good old fashioned no-nonsense action flic. 8/10

An action thriller that really puts you on the edge of your seat. Masterfully crafted with a compelling story, and the inclusion of Gerard Butler only made it that much better, keeping you on edge at all times. Honestly it is better then his usual action movies like Olympus Has Fallen & London Has Fallen. I won't ruing the plot line, but it keeps you engaged and entertained.


If you haven't seen it that you are missing out, it really is that good.

It reminded of the Hunt For The Red October, it was a classic and so will this one be as well.

This is an exciting, thrilling movie with some fantastic acting and a compelling story. We see the conflict between being right and being alive throughout the film with some very tense action moments. If you enjoyed Butler's previous films; London / Olmypus has fallen then this will be enjoyable for you too. It's got a similar style while remaining plausible and masterfully crafted. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't already!

After 8 years in the US Navy on submarines I knew I was going to have problems with the movie on a technical level. The sixty degree down angle ordered is ridiculously ridiculous. Remember when they ordered a 30 degree down when they were diving the first time and everyone stood at an angle without falling over? Why weren’t things crazy at 60 down bubble?

Anyway my major need is this: Why is an English actor(Oldman) playing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and a Scotsman(Butler) playing a CO of a submarine? Were all the American actors busy?

All complaining aside this was still really entertaining.

Man this movie sucked major balls. Bad acting, cliche writing, cheesy one liners and awfull cgi.

Really good movie actually, a nice thrilling movie from start to the end.

So the plot is a bit 1990ish and there are many points debatable in terms of realism and plot holes. But I have a thing for submarine movies and simply seen as an action thriller this was entertaining. Especially at the end the tension was presented very well.

And honestly, I am not sure that this scenario is so far fetched even, or maybe especially, today.

Bit of an unlightly story that is sprouted from the mind of?? whatever this person was thinking writing this script ? I can't believe he was sober nor not under the influence of drugs unknown to mankind.
Worse script I have ever watched, although I had the nerves to watch the complete movie, bah.

First, it does not make sense for an American submarine to go to Russia. A stupid way to commit suicide. The special effects are very bad, they are better in "20,000 leagues of submarine travel" or "Das boot". The maneuvers that the new submarine (American) makes are absurd. On the other hand, a war breaks out and nobody takes it seriously, even in "Dr. Strangelove" they take war more seriously and it's a comedy movie.

There are many nonsense. First they say three different positions for the mishap that occurred at the beginning of the film. Second, that an American troop can enter Russia without anyone noticing. Third, that they use a submarine dron by remote control at the same time that a frequency inhibitor is working. Fourth, the dialogue between the president of Russia and the defense minister... No comments. An absurd coup d'etat… I could continue writing, but ... poof ... All the dialogues are basically asked.

Edit: An American convinces the Russian colonel to enter Russia with a nuclear submarine ... WHAT? and… How the sniper, seriously injured, climbs a tree fifty meters away!? Really?

Bad movie in every sense.

I like submarine movies, and this is a really good one, with hints from "The hunt for Red October" and "Crimson Tide". Good cast, good acting, good action scenes and does not ignore the laws of physics.
