An incredibly realistic portrayal of mental illness and how it can be passed down. I loved it and it had me both laughing and in tears, but it may not be relateable for everyone.

Additionally, I would not call this horror at all. It is very much a dark psychodrama, so know that going in.

There is an evident knowledge of the representation of bipolar mental disorder that benefits the film, although it finds some difficulties in developing the horror elements, which seem more like a gimmicky device than a real necessity of the story. The list of visual resources to represent the disease is creative, and it is less important to know what is real and what is not, than the consequences that these visions, fictitious or not, have on the protagonist. And it's interesting how queer representation is normalized in a story that isn't obsessed with it.

A slow-burning descent into madness, that blurs the lines between reality and delusion. I’m a bit conflicted about how I feel about this film as it oscillates between a frighteningly dark family drama and perhaps a silly, over the top portrayal of mental illness. Though some sequences are quite memorable, there's just something with how it's put together and how some of the lines are delivered that are distracting. Overall, it's quite disappointing but at least it boasts a great performance by Zach Villa.

Psychological body horror that explores mental illness and trauma. It's well shot and well acted. I like that it portrays a realistic gay relationship and meltal illness. The first half was strong but I didn't like the second half story went all over the place. The ending was underwhelming but I appreciate the symbolism of the last shot.
