Everyone should watch this movie. Such a powerful and emotional story based on the sad reality of today's world.

The U.K is steadily moving backwards. We are now living it what seems like Victorian times. The rich get richer and well you know the rest.

@1treehillbilly I don't want to start a political argument on this site, but how does the rich getting richer have anything to do with the characters poverty? Surely the states competence should be your concern.

Ken Loach films are like social workers: Important for society, but I don't want to spend any more time with them than I have to.

Powerful movie. Shows exactly what society is today. Poverty shouldn't exist in this day and age. People shouldn't have to scrounge for food nor money. Jobs are few and by hell do the Jobcentre make you earn a payment. Anyhoo, if you get a chance watch this film! An 8 for me

Powerful social drama which is relatable to anybody who has suffered the indignity of falling pray to 'the system.' I've been there, and I have to say the film does not put a foot wrong. Heartbreaking.

I really enjoyed this. I had minor gripes. The fade-to-black moments were very distracting. The ending as a whole, I didn't care for. I can put all that aside, because I really connected with the characters in this film. I felt their desperation and their compassion. Even the supporting characters were strong. There are a lot of good moments in this one. It's definitely worth a watch.

Side note: Hayley Squires, who plays Katie, totally reminds me of a British Mila Kunis. Couldn't shake that association throughout the whole film.
