I thought I couldn't get more disappointed by Indiana Jones after watching the (in my opinion) absolutely hyped "Raiders of the Lost Arc". But then I saw "The Temple of Doom" and it's even worse! I will never get how this franchise got such a huge fan base: a mediocre plot at best, mediocre acting, laughable characters combined with special effects and stunts that let you tear out your hair (at least in the year 2015)! I suggest you skip this crap-fest and watch another one of the 1001 decent action/adventure flicks available!

Huge fan base is because people grew up with this, back in the days when "the matrix" wasn't even possible. When kids watch the matrix in 20 years they might go "djeez what is this crap" because its 10x better with 40k tv's or whatever.

@drnkmnky What does today's audience think is the best adventure film. Lara Croft Tombraider, The Mummy, Prince of Persia ?

@drnkmnky "at least in the year 2015" Miniatures? In _current year?_ Movie ruined!

Another poor fool living in time. Opinion discarded.

The worst in the series according to the critics. Probably the best for me.

Highly recommended if you like adventure movies.

Nonstop right from the jump. Indy should never be without Short Round, the mine cart chase alone puts it over the top.

Indy: *"Wear your jewels to bed princess?"*
Willie: *"Yeah... and nothing else. Shock you?"*
Indy: *"Nothing shocks me. I'm a scientist."*

The first 20-30 minutes of this are non-stop well-thought out action, it just doesn't let up. One event leads to another which leads to another. ***Temple of Doom*** for me, beats *Raiders of the Lost Ark* to a pulp... the kebab kill, the plane crash, the weirdly disgusting dinner, the bugs, the more macabre themes, the wagon chase, the bridge scene, the father son-ish synergy with Short Round and what a unique tone—it goes from silly to more serious to creepy to straight out comedy but I never felt like it was too much, it just gives you a bit of everything. Short Round is a great addition he's the perfect squire. Willie is incredibly annoying at times but she made me laugh more than once. Some of the sets actually look creepy with the voodoo shit, the skulls and the fire. Brillant cinematography. Incredible score. Perfect pacing. What an adventure!

I too would have passed out at the monkey brains part. Yuck!

my opinion exactly, the dinner was indeed horrendous but immediately after that we were compensated by the "fruit" scene...if you know what i mean lol

There's plenty of fun and entertaining moments. While Kate Capshaw really isn't as bad as they say. The problem was her underwritten character that's there to be a love interest and scream and be afraid of everything.
While Short Round beating up full grown men with karate and even knocking some down with one punch each was silly. You also have that famous nauseating dinner scene.
Despite my problems, Temple of Doom wasn't bad nevertheless. Due to fine direction and great editing. While of course, a top notch Harrison Ford.

Slightly dark with fantastic elements, but after 40 years it is still a good adventure film.

As much as I’m a fan of this franchise this is undoubtedly the one i enjoyed the least. It disrespects and falsely represents Indian culture, I felt it relied more on the gross out factor.. (the dinner scene). I also found Kate Capshaw a really annoying actress. I have seen many positive reviews for this instalment, each to their own but for me without question the poorest by a margin and very disappointing after watching all others in a recent movie marathon.

This is the unfairly overlooked entry in the Indiana Jones trilogy. No, it's not "Raiders of the Lost Ark", but what the Hell is?!? "Temple of Doom" is about as exciting and well-executed an action flick as you will ever see.

People complain that's it's too violent with its heart-extracting and monkey brain eating excesses, but it goes a thousand miles an hour and THAT is what you buy the action movie ticket for. The realism of jumping out of a plane in an inflatable raft and the roller coaster ore cart ride not withstanding, you won't find a more breath taking ninety minutes of movie watching.

And Willie and Short Round aren't really that bad...

A darker and a little silly sequel that can't quite live up to the first but still is an enjoyable movie. Its funny seeing Short Round beating up adults.

I know with three films as amazing as the Indiana Jones trilogy, it's hard to pick a best and worst film, in fact it's nearly impossible. I'm just going to say that each film is great on it's own, and really shouldn't be compared to the other two.

Entertaining. Silly. Memorable scenes. Too ridiculous for some and people find Willy annoying. I thinks she fits in well. After all these years I still zone out on the story part in India.

The super cliché woman character, the flat bad guy characters which leave a big „why all this?“ in your face, the pointless kid sidekick and the over-the-top soundtrack make this movie not stand the test of time.

So what does this movie get points? Two points for the mining car scenes, one for the first cave trap and one for the
liberation of the children
.

I don't understand the hype.

You can watch the movie once, but there are better ones. Maybe 20 years ago, the films might have worked better.
