This was an unexpected treat. Ellen Page produced this film after finding the book in a Halifax bookstore (Yay Halifax! Yay books!). The people who didn't like this movie (unrealistic, boring) seem to have missed the gold here - really good acting by the leads Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Woods, interesting predicaments, fully developed relationships, beautiful (heart stopping) natural beauty (Yay BC!). If you are willing to suspend disbelief (at which I am a master) this movie has merit - I give it an 8.5 (beautifully performed) out of 10. Thanks Ellen Page for producing movies in Canada.

A rewarding survival story with captivating performances from Wood and Page. Emotionally raw at times, this is the battle of the human spirit to survive in a world where everything that is 'modern' disappears.

Great acting and characters, but slow. I’d be dead in a few hours without power so kudos to them. I like the premise, it just seemed to drag on…

Great watch, would watch again, and can recommend.

Trigger Warning: sexual violence.

Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood carry most of this "mysterious dystopia" movie. I'm sure this story can be used as a parallel of what it is to be a woman in the modern world, but I see it as a survival story. More
