Very dense nightmarish atmosphere. Paranoia. Claustrophobia. Pleasantly suspenseful. Great filmmaking. Especially camera work. Yeah, a plot is not that great and some scenes are unintentionally funny. Ending rocks though.

What started off an eager watch ended up becoming a little boring. Overatted.

Cine Paco 2: image 3.5 / 5 and Sound 3.5 / 5. Although this is well, I prefer the 1956 version

One of the better "Alien Invasion" movies, Told in that gritty realism way of the 70s cinema. Almost as good as the original from the 50s. Recommended for fans of the genre...

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’:

1. That “pod birth” scene in the garden was especially grotesque. A reminder that we need more practical effects in our cinematic lives.

2. WTF was that human/dog hybrid thing about?! That sure came outta nowhere.

3. All in all, it was a classic worth seeing. The story and the whole “snatching” process felt a little disjointed at times, something more recent renditions of the “pod people” story accomplished better. But a great cast made up for it.

@tvwatcha3 "WTF was that human/dog hybrid thing about?!"
It's what happens to the homeless man after Bennell kicks and damages the pod next to him. The man was sleeping next to his dog, so the damaged pod created a mutant human/dog hybrid.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers is 30 minutes too long. Great story and practical effects, but the pacing is sluggish.

>Jack: *"It's a big conspiracy."*
Matt: *"What's a conspiracy?"*
Jack: *"Everything."*

The most allegorical movie i've ever seen? I was long overdue to watch this classic and it's a bit of a disappointment. I really like the setup in the first act it had me instantly intrigued and builds up the anticipation well. Then we get a couple creepy scenes and the paranoia keeps elevating but i'm just waiting to see something cool or a kill or something but it's only people being chased and hiding for most of the runtime. Third act is more of the same. Too slow and severely lacking in fun and thrills (minus the last 5 minutes). The practical effects/makeup look really good, the birthing scene was the best of the movie. Great camerawork and filmmaking in general. Good ending. It'll never feel dated because of the themes but I would love a more modern and less dull remake.

The hell kind of dog was that?!

It's pretty dated but still worth watching; has its creepy moments in spite of the outdated technology (time-lapse photography for those fast-growing pods! LOL) Probably the creepiest thing about this entire film, though, is Donald Sutherland's (Matthew) ill-concealed hots for his office assistant "Elizabeth" (Brooke Adams). It was pretty obvious from the onset of the movie and - as is so often the case in these ridiculous stories - just at the moment of doom, she professes her love for him (in spite of living with another guy throughout the entire movie). Camera 3, move in closely on that hairy lip trying to somehow form a tender yet passionate kiss... Utterly ridiculous. In spite of that, however, this was still a fun watch. I've seen at least the very ending scene at least once but can't recall if I've ever watched the movie in its entirety until now. In all honesty, I think this _could_ make a pretty creepy movie if someone were to take the time to do a modern reboot.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers is an unsettling little gem. It does an excellent job of creating a feeling of claustrophobia, no where to run and no where to get help. The cast is excellent (it's really nice seeing Nimoy play something other than Spock) and the movie is able to maintain tension throughout.

One of my personal favorites. It’s not without flaws but that ending has always been a memorable one for me.

Me sorprendieron los efectos especiales, todavía dan miedo (el maldito perro que grima da) y un poco de asquito, creo que es la mejor versión de esta historia.

This is as solid of a remake as you will ever find. In fact, it may be better than the original. Donald Sutherland is great, as is the rest of the cast. The movie takes no time getting started as the paranoia is in full swing just 30 minutes into the film.

The direction is terrific and while not gory the movie is scary because of the noises emanating from the zombie-like pod people. The ending was also a shocker.
