I get why the critics gave it the positive reviews they did; the cinematography was outstanding and the direction and performances were all very good. I enjoyed it a great deal for those reasons. However, I also get why much of the viewing audience was less positive about it (like the two friends I went with.) It is most definitely a slow burn, psychological horror film that lacks the in-your-face shock and/or gore moments common in the majority of contemporary horror films. It's also bound to leave you with more questions than answers (as one friend complained, "There's not enough info!") If you want to see an extremely well made film and aren't put off by films with a slower pace that demand a bit of imagination, I highly recommend it. Seriously, some of the camera work is breathtaking.

Very misleading trailer and title. What comes at night? [spoiler]NOTHING![/spoiler]. Incredibly slow pace and I was glad it was over (as was everyone in the theatre).

The suspense was as dark and as thick as the night I saw it. Not a teenage slasher film, but excellent psychological horror.

How and what happened causing the sickness is not important, this is more about the people trying to survive and the uneasy trust in others. At times you wonder where the looming danger might come from, the newcomers, from the family itself or outside..
The film is moody, beautiful, sad and suspenseful and not the typical horror survival flick led to believe by the trailer and title..

Well, this is awkward. I´m still waiting for "them" to come and the movie ended a while ago...

What ever you do don't pay your hard earned cash to watch this at the cinema. It is slow, painfully slow. There's no suspense or action of any type. It was a shock when the credits started coming up the screen because nothing had happened. The best thing about this movie is that its not on very long.

Very tense movie, not the horror you would expect but still very well done. I love seeing small scale movies that just focus on a few characters and how they react to bad circumstances. Joel Edgerton is great, a scary man who you don't know what he is capable of.

A well made horror movie that is much different than many others that have been released recently. It uses a dark and mysterious atmosphere that really adds to the suspense and creepiness that is present in the film. With that being said, this movie is a slow burner and I found it to be drastically different in pacing than what was shown in the trailer. There were a couple of aspects I thought could have be improved on but it is a well made horror movie that utilizes atmosphere as opposed to the generic horror formula.

The film was okay, more post-apocalyptic psycho-drama than horror. I did expect more, however, but that's mainly because of the misleading hype the movie received.

Apocolypse plus stupid people equals decent movie

the acting is good i guess and its cool if you're into slow paced movies. i just couldn't stand paul and sarah apparently not giving a shit about their son's mental state and also I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS! they literally gave us 0 answers as to what was going on except that there was a disease killing people in a matter of days.

Frankly, quite a disappointment. Not as horrifying as I expected based on the trailer. The subject is interesting, but the execution is very ineffective and lazy. After seeing the final scene, it seemed that the filmmakers ran out of ideas. Although the plot was pretty poor, the actors did a good job. I also got to agree with that, yes, this is more of a psychological thriller than horror. Maybe should watch it another time to get more of it. However, I don't want to diss it too much. It was just very much different from my expectations. Certainly a much more rewarding experience for someone else.

So what this movie does is make you come up with about ten questions and leave you hanging on most. The first half of the movie is just plain boring, followed by one super intens moment [spoiler] because when Paul shot the little kid and Kim started to scream for her child, that went right through my soul. [/spoiler] and it ends right after that with a very predictable ending.
I honestly don't understand why this movie is called 'it comes at night' because nothing came at night. It's a movie about a mysterious illness and yes, many of the events happened at night but other than that there was nothing tying the title to the movie.
