When it works, it's amusing, the kind of amusing where you snort-laugh at best. However, it doesn't always work and it leaves you scratching your head trying to figure out what is the idea that the scene was trying to convey.

It's not a movie about Palestine, it's a movie about a director who just happens to be Palestinian. So the movies doesn't really say anything about Palestine, or the Palestinian culture, or the conflict, or anything really.

I would recommend watching it with someone, the lack of dialogue in the movie makes it the perfect movie to watch it with someone and comment on it while you're still watching it.

_It Must Be Heaven_ is a series of video vignettes, single panel cartoons, political allegories about Palestine. Many of them are as insightful as they are amusing but too many of them don't land for the film to be called a success.

Kind of surprised by the comments before mine, iI feel like some people didn't understand what was implied at all and just took it as a funny movie, and they expected a movie about war because the writer is Palestinian. [spoiler] This is exactly what a french director tells him during the movie, implying any story about Palestine that isn't about the conflict isn't worthy to be told. [/spoiler]

Saying the movie doesn't say _anything_ missed a lot of what was said. It exagerated each countries, and how he perceived them. Some of it is kind of hard to get without the full cultural context behind it (especially those in Palestine for me, as I'm French).

[spoiler]The common point between all the countries is the cops and the military, how useless and stupid they are, how much violence you have to see everyday, to experience everyday because you're always suspected of possibly being violent. [/spoiler]
