Um roteiro interessante, com uma abordagem que muitos jovens passam: pressão. Mas o filme não é apenas sobre isso, é também sobre como superar isso, e fica evidente quando a personagem principal canta Under Pressure que ele esta a superar seu problema. Falando em música, o filme coloca a música como uma fonte de positividade, amor, esperança. Totalmente entrelaçado com a música, este filme nos deixa evidente a importância de sons em nossas vidas, sendo este som não apenas música, mas também a voz de certa pessoa, um suspiro, e até a falta de som, ou seja, o silêncio. Assim, o som se torna o ambiente perfeito entre duas pessoas.
Cumpre seu papel como comédia/drama, há até mesmo graça no próprio drama/loucura, se ousarmos sermos empáticos, fica aquela sensação ''eu sei como é isso'', é como rir de uma história trágica antiga sua, que no momento em que ocorreu não tinha graça nenhuma.
Não possui uma produção impecável, possui cortes nada sutis, não me tirou o folego, mas me tirou risadas e me fez lembrar que tudo pode ser tirado da música (do incomodo a sabedoria a imaginação). Além de possuir personagens secundários muito interessantes.

We follow Craig as he gets checked in to a mental ward in a hospital to treat his depression. In there, we see him interact with other patients, fall in love, and eventually recover enough to leave the place.

While the plot is quite clearly what is expected for teen/young adult movies, it takes time to show the hardships and mental illnesses the characters are going through, making it unique enough to be a bit different. Still, there are moments and some conflicts that are just too cliche not to stand out.

Interestingly, the patients are colourful and have rounded personalities (even Noelle, who is the stereotypical "quirky girl character", have enough personality to be sympathetic and feel real). In contrast, the characters outside the hospital are almost complete caricatures. Regardless of being intentional, it creates a nice discrepancy between the inside and outside of the mental ward.

Craig's depression and anxiety, the way he describes it, feels very real. He says some things shouldn't be taken as advice, but it reflects the feelings of some people struggling with those disorders. It creates a powerful and, at times, upsetting, connection.

The plot and some of the conflicts — especially the "love triangle" between Craig, Noelle, and Nia — vary from somewhat cliche and very cliche. However, the cast, the story's setting, and the authentic way depression and anxiety get treated during most of the movie add a uniqueness to it that makes the film definitely worth a watch.

This is a fine movie. One downside is if you read the book before it's gonna be underwhelming. In the book we had a full 25% of backstory and why he decided to go to the hospital. Here the movie starts with him already there. (not talking about the prologue that really is just a Hollywood tickbox). In the first minutes, we find out that he is 16 should've been 15 why the change but ok... then someone asks his age. Why make him tell us his age when we find it out from dialogue anyway? [spoiler] His character feels like the point of view character, not the main one. Zach Galifianakis's character that I really don't remember from the book that much (except de sweater scene) stole the show. Noelle's face looks scratched by a cat not like she did it herself with a pair of rusty scissors. That was really disappointing 'cause she describes them like it would stop any kind of future job offer. Nia looks like a hallucination. I mean they really put alien music when they zoomed in on her boobs. She totally looks like a sex addict in the movie. She had sleeping with him on a list. At least in the book, he kissed her. Then he says he loves her ???? This brings us to the stupid love triangle, cause of course Noelle is there. Zack Galifianakis, saves it again, with the brilliant delivery of the "Yo mamma joke". He talked with Noelle twice and it wasn't as deep as it was in the book either. Did they just monologue the conversation? Sure, cause we didn't need any build-up for the relationship. And that one performance of Under Pressure o_o. [/spoiler]
