You can't blame it for not being the masterpiece the first was. It's not Spielberg that's for sure but ***Jaws 2*** is still great entertainment and a decent follow up. Instead of building anticipation and suspence for more than half the runtime like the first did, this one does the opposite, there's shark action throughout which isn't a bad thing it just depends what you're in the mood for—I say yes to more shark action! In all other aspects it's not on the level of the first but it still maintains certain aspects like the score, the shark practical effects and it still looks good visually. Brody already felt fully fleshed out as a character in the first but it's further solidified here and I enjoyed his psychological breakdown character arc. The third act gets repetitive but I like how it ended.
