This is not Dunkirk, Saving Private Ryan, or Call of Duty. Don't come into this expecting a lot of explosions and gunfire. This is an adaptation of a 1928 stage play about life in the trenches, but despite its age, this is still as relevant as ever. The atmosphere is intense and filled with dread. The soldiers are tired and fearful, despite attempts to be chipper. Brigadier's bark orders while sipping their brandy. And over the hill, the enemy awaits, an unseen force that is present in the minds and souls of the brave men waiting for their turn to cross the barrier and risk their lives. This is the power and futility of war, and the film is a must-see for anybody willing to sit in the mud and grime of the trenches with these bitterly afraid men.

I was hoping for more than i got.
This movie takes place in a period of 3-4 days and involves about 5-10 soldiers characters. Its mostly about how they feel and what they think, and very little about actual action sequences.
It comes off better as a book or play, but unfortunately, its not so strong as a movie.

I was really looking forward for a WWI epic, but its only a small story.
Recommended if you like war movies. I wish i could give it an 8, but it's a 7.

Don't expect a movie full of action and shooting. Journey's End is a realistic view on a small period of a battle in which the psychological battle of the soldiers itself is being displayed. I personally found it very interesting and yet heartbreaking. Definitely would recommend it!

I am struggling to find any coherent plot in this movie. To be honest I was struggling throughout the whole movie.
Yes, war is brutal, futile and can make you go mad. But there is hardly any war shown. It's people sitting in trenches and dugouts talking and yelling and then talking again. There is a couple of minutes of a raid and every once in a while you hear a shell explode, that's it.
Probably works good as a book or a play, but not really well as a movie.
