this is a film for those who were raised as children to achieve and nothing else, raised with little to no love, constantly pressured. this is the only film that almost brought me to tears

@bizzort I'm only like 10 mins into it, but honestly, that massage scene, so so sad. I was like "wow, and I thought I had issues" :flushed::pensive:

_Kajillionaire_ is a dead frog and Gina Rodriguez is the electricity that makes it come to life and keeps it jumping.

Wow, just wow...

If you've ever watched 2016's _Captain Fantastic_ and thought: "hmm, what if there was a more depressing/neurotic/abusive version of that?", then you're in luck.

[FF Gent] It approaches human relationships with a sense of humor, with a sense of extravagance. The protagonist is devoid of parental affection, but at the same time is addicted to her parents. This contradictory feeling are the basis of the main story. But it is also a story of emotional abuse, a cruel portrait of a society that takes advantage of the citizens, a pessimistic view of the human being.

This is a very sweet coming-of-age movie. It is a very charming movie with a lot of heart about a not-so-successful grifter-con-artist family and a frustrated, disheartened daughter who finds love for the first time.

1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

Like the rest of us, Miranda July obviously had Parasite and The Handmaiden on loop these last few years ;)

I liked it but it was a little confusing at times. Perhaps I overlooked lines of dialogue or something but some of the scenes seemed to happen without any forward explanation. The movie was still good but for me, it was a little loose around the edges.

It's adorable. They throw in some really fun scenes so the characters can breath. Cute little movie.

I felt like they could've dove so much deeper with this story. The ending was also kind of disappointing. The best part of the movie was Gina Rodriguez, she brought some much needed energy

Coming of age stories are usually a slam dunk with me. I'm generally pretty forgiving of anything in the genre, but Kajillionaire dove a bit too far into the "quirky for the sole purpose of being weird" end of the pool. There were some great individual moments here and there, but not enough to make me love this. That and the final "heist" drove me nuts simply because there is no conceivable way it could have been completed in the silence needed to do it.

The best thing about this movie is Gina Rodriguez. Man, she's so fn hot. The worst? Eva Rachel Wood's forced deep voice. Annoying.

@the_argentinian I too found her voice a bit weird, but upon googling it, it turns out that's actually her real voice?! Apparently she had to train herself to talk in a higher pitch, because she was getting nodules on her voice box.
