I found this documentary really interesting. It shows the ability of the human soul to bond in unique ways to an animal.
Plus, it was beautifully shot, with great views of Istanbul and its cats.

Although I do not master even the basic command of the Turkish language, it gave me a great insight into the relationship between cats and locals. Gestures, eye movements, meows spoke volumes.

Kedi (Turkish for cat) is a documentary style movie following the lives of some of the many thousands of stray cats roaming the streets of Istanbul. The film concentrates on seven of these cats and their interactions with the humans in their lives. Some of the cats are almost completely wild whilst others allow a much closer relationship with the people around them.
The cat’s eye level of the film is interspersed with interviews with the humans that have come to love and care for each of the cats reflecting on the personalities and foibles of each cat!
This is a fascinating film – it not only gives an amazing window into the lives of cats but also allows a glimpse of the city of Istanbul and its culture.
My cat loved it too!

Perfect for cat lovers. Cats in Istambul are treated like spirit of the place and it's the most appropriate stature for them. It's hard to watch it objectively. However I can see an ugly place without trees and nature, with too many buildings and cats walking on tables with food. It seems that they have problem with too many cats, but there is only one opinion like that and it's not comprehensive - it sounds like out of context. I rather prefer movies without commentary, like "The Private Life of a Cat".

Basically a long cat video. It seems Istanbul has a glut of cats and this film doesn't want us to forget it. The filming was excellent, but 90 minutes of a 'documentary' where we learn cats like to petted? That one lady thinks people are like cats? That another bloke thinks people should be more like cats? This film should've been put to sleep because that's what it did to me.

Heartwarming and Heartbreaking at the same time

"People who don't love animals can't love people either".
"The cat embodies the indescribably chaos, the culture, and the uniqueness that is the essence of Istanbul"
