Sincere, Solid , Unoriginal

Khuda Haafiz 2 is an earnest & sincerely made sequel that even after having a contrived plot rides on the powerhouse performance of Vidyut Jammwal. The film uses rape as an excuse to advance the storyline and eventually convert this into a new franchise. The film's first half focuses on emotional drama, and the second half is about Vidyut going insane. The drama even if predictable feels genuine and heartfelt and the action is brutal and gory which director Faruk Kabir unifies through the film effectively. Sheeba Chaddha as Thakur ji proves how versatile she is as the antagonist and gives an intimidating performance. Overall, Khuda Haafiz 2 is a hacky, no-nonsense Bollywood film that rides on a sensitive but overworked issue of rape in the country, but is still enjoyable because of brilliant direction, sensational lead, and a beautiful score by Mithoon.

After Khuda Haafiz was released in 2020 on OTT, we all were in the union of praising Vidyut the actor rather than Vidyut the action star. This still resonates with how the film movies here in the sequel. Vidyut is a vulnerable husband in the first half followed by a menacing, revenge-seeking ordinary man in the second. Shivalika Oberoi is decent and adds good emotional support to the drama. The action set pieces are well shot and presented and stay raw with no over-the-top moments. The film I wish could have imparted a better storyline rather than playing the stale tropes of rape. If you loved Khuda Haafiz 1 then it's a no-brainer to watch 2 as it's the beginning of something (another franchise).
