This is such an amazing directorial debut in my view. Almost want to give it 4 stars.
It makes me feel so many things.
The second half really elevates it from an almost spoof-level comedy to one of the most heartfelt coming-of-age films I can think of. It also helps that I relate to Grover so damn much.
Having a bartender lowkey be the 'guru' character in a film for lost 22-year-old boys is perfect.

Amusing satire but never quite "haha funny".
I liked how the characters were like parodies of characters out of a Bret Easton Ellis novel, as a way to address the pervasive misogyny, narcissism, and overall toxicity among yuppies in the '80s-90s.
I wish I had watched it when it came out. Quite ahead of its time.

That last scene is one of the sweetest things I've ever watched in a movie ever. I couldn't stop repeating it. :heartbeat:

@khawlah "Sweet"? More like pathetic.<br /> Grover was so emotionally immature that he couldn't deal with the concept of consent for PDA. He just wished to be able to kiss her whenever he wanted to.
