Who says animated movies are only made for kids. 'Kill It and Leave This Town' is a surreal Polish horror movie that feels like one big fever dream. In terms of style, the drawings and ark work is very familiar in the style of the book 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark'. However, the movie would sometimes get too carried and loses itself within the surrealism, which made me lose a bit of focus.

[Annecy] A journey into the memory of director Mariusz Wilczynski that is melancholic and sometimes dark. "I simply don't believe in death," says Andrzej Wajda. The dead are in the memory. The director is represented as a vulnerable giant in a tiny world. The background is dark, the scenes are small sketches that are surely memories. It is a fascinating look that captures in a reflection on life and death.

While the film meditates on the human condition with stunning artistry, 'Kill It and Leave This Town' also feels lengthy and taxing because of the unbearably bleak material.
