==And to all those who are still confused,== to my utter disbelief and pity, ==this "movie" served as a special episode and teaser for the upcoming season to the _Kingdom_ franchise.== And dare I say, it served its purpose excellently.

Initially this special episode didn't sit well with me, with its predictable plot and niche-tropey characters and dialogues. This movie however, is an adrenaline ride made to serve as a curiosity and expectation fueling teaser to both the franchise and premise of the story. Well that much is obvious to all audience, but with unprecedented aspects such as
addition of psychological genre and a vengeance-motivated and [somewhat] sadist and masochist anti-hero
, the series has plucked up my ears and interest **yet** again. As most Korean stuff, this too goes way over the board with its concept for the sake of story, in a rather haphazard and unnecessarily desperate manner, but that's again what makes this
good shit
worth a watch. This is one of those things, for me, which are charming as they are because of their first watch. Basically, can't watch it again for I get what it wanted to do and I'm fired up for the next season lol

I came to know about the existence of a teaser such as this, given its relation to one of my most-appreciated Korean franchises, I am glad and relieved that I could watch this. A must watch for those who like/love the original series, and _**don't judge a movie by its beginning**._ :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ashin of the North is a 2021 South Korea production. It lasts for one hour and thirty-two minutes, and, let us say it, it’s a nice piece of cinematography.

At the end of Season 2 of the series “Kingdom“, the audience discovered a new and mysterious character: Ashin. And, as always happens with a season’s finale, further questions without an answer.

It’s a story of betrayals, magic, war, zombies and revenge. Ashin is a movie to watch because introduces us to the Kingdom series available on Netflix. Will Ashin completes her revenge? And why she needs it? All the details at https://www.spotamovie.com/ashin-of-the-north-2021-movie-review/

I really liked their gradual introduction to the theme and the zombies but this kind of introduction felt too long and lasted for several episodes without any pieces moving in the story. It was a bit obvious this was done on purpose to delay progress for Season 2. Meanwhile, Season 2 took a step back and tried to develop its characters even though there was no room for that. Although Kingdom as a whole is relatively short but it needed a more precise cut to suit what we've been presented. Maybe cutting it down to 8 episodes in total would be ideal. The slow atmospheric shots with eerie background music were pleasant at first, but they quickly became overused to death and an abrupt change was needed but never happened. The movie Ashin of the North was an unnecessary addition that felt empty, out of place and was missing something to make us care. In traditional Netflix fashion, always make sure to lay the groundwork for endless possible future seasons/iterations at the end of every turn. Despicable greed!
