If you've not seen this before, and you like British indie comedy/drama films... Then look no further than 'Kinky Boots'

Set in the dreary town of Northampton, just a few miles up the road from where I was born and raised, and a place I have visited many hundreds of times, a place that I am very familiar with it's history in the shoe industry.... Comes a delightful and utterly charming film.

A story about a man who's never really seen himself taking over the family shoe business, but feels a responsibility to after the sudden death of his father. He finds that the business is in trouble and he's only got weeks to find a solution before it goes out of business for good.

I won't spoil the plot for you, but the acting is great all round, the characters have a real charm and depth about them. The script/writing is excellent and the lead characters larger than life. The star of the film is undoubtedly Chiwetel Eijofor, in one of the breakout roles for him as an actor. He plays the vivacious Lola to perfection.

Seriously good fun, it makes you laugh, it makes you think, it may even bring a tear to your eye.

A well deserved 9/10

'Kinky Boots' is very good, as it seamlessly mixes two majorly different worlds to create a delightful film.

Chiwetel Ejiofor does a superb job with his performance as Lola, a role I didn't think I would ever see from him but one I'm glad he did. Joel Edgerton is more than solid as Charlie, while Sarah-Jane Potts (Lauren) and Nick Frost (Don) are decent in their parts - though the stuff with Frost's character is overly predictable.

Nice pacing, well chosen music and Ejiofor's strong showing all help this production work to a strong degree.

Because we can't have all the happy ending, so of course Charlie didn't end up with Lola
