Genuinely an amazing movie which surpassed my expectations, and it turned out to be a little more serious then I expected. The animation was nothing short of spectacular and the voices behind the characters came through the characters. The whole production was world class, and to say the movie was heart warming and fun is the least I could say. It turned out to be different then what I thought I was going to watch, but it was even better.

I saw it opening day to show my support. It's got a heart-felt story, and the stop-animation techniques are outstanding! I'm glad people are starting to recognize the art form. I'm definitely picking up the Blu-ray once it's out as this one is my favorite from **LAIKA**.
I <3 it with all my heart!

Interesting tidbit: I recently learned that some of the people that worked on Gumby also worked on Kubo.

Kubo, son of a fallen samurai and a witch, sets on an adventure to defeat the evil spirits that are after him.

_Kubo and the Two Strings_ combines action with fantasy as well as stresses the importance and meaning of the family, making it a great movie to watch with your kids.

Beautifully animated story that is as much for adults as it is for kids. Magical, scary, and exciting. A treat.

Zootopia, Finding Dory, Moana and Kubo. What an amazing year for animated movies 2016 was.

Nice movie, but I will only recommend it to children. The story is to easy to anticipate for a grown-up..
But aesthetically, it is splendid !

Visually this movie was great. You often forget you're watching stop motion animation. Unfortunately the story was lacking for me.

Good movie, I just found it weird and disappointing that the creepy witch like sisters disappeared from the movie. They were the best villains in Kubo and the Two Strings.

I was a tad bit worried watching this as I am not the biggest fan of stop motion movies but this was fantastic. It is a perfect movie for the family and is extremely fun, heartwarming and emotional... It's so good!! I loved the characters and was hooked all throughout, I highly recommend this to all people of all ages. I loved it that much I had it on my name badge when I worked at a cinema!! **10/10**

The plot’s a little generic, and it could’ve easily been richer if it focussed on the things it mentions through exposition (e.g. the backstory of the mother, the conflict with the aunts (also, why do these characters pop up and leave whenever they feel like it?)). Instead, what we get is mostly a serviceable macguffin hunt with some predictable twists. However, it doesn’t matter that much because it gets all the other stuff so right. The characters are all very well defined and interesting, the themes of memory, family and death are handled in a beautiful way, the animation is (at the moment of writing) some of the best ever put to film, the cinematography and score are amazing and there’s even a great rendition of While My Guitar Gently Weeps by Regina Spektor during the credits. Just on a pure scene level this movie knows how to present familiar ideas in a new, fresh way (the action scenes are well staged, the dialogue and comedy are well written and the horror influence continues to be a major distinguishing factor in Laika’s work). Pretty easily recommended for all ages.

7.5/10

I don't know why but lately all the movies I watch are so magical, Kubo and the Two Strings for sure is one of them. It's such an interesting story with so much emotion and so many life lessons. I was truly fascinated. Something I also really enjoyed was the way it was animated. We are all used to seeing only the Disney animations nowadays which makes this movie refreshing to look at and oh so beautifully made.

I really don't have a lot to say actually. It was plainly beautiful, inspiring and magical to watch and it's high on my recommendation list. It has been a while since I watched a movie with my family we all 100% liked. Which I think makes Kubo and the Two Strings a movie like not many others.
