Michael Mann's gutsy telefilm tells the tale of two skilled professionals--one a cop, the other a criminal--who aren't as different as they think. Vincent Hanna is an intense cop on the trail of ruthless armed robber Patrick McLaren. After a botched heist, the two men confront each via a full scale battle on the seedy streets of Los Angeles.

Like Hitchcock with The Man Who Knew Too Much. Michael Mann remade this film bigger and better with the classic heist film, Heat. Mann’s style at least steals the show even this almost feels like a student film at times. The musical score is great just like in Heat and Collateral as well. After seeing Heat first Scott Plank feels like he is doing a Al Pacino impersonation. Though he is more laid back and less over the top. None of the acting is really bad but their performances don’t stand up against Pacino. DeNiro or Val Kilmer. The shoot-outs of course aren’t as good either but pretty great for a TV movie. Heat is more poetic but this movie just isn’t bad either. I’d rank it higher than Mann’s Miami Bice movie and Blackhat.
