[IFFR'22] Establishes an idealization of the protagonist, represented in the cinematography of the veteran Mário Barroso, collaborator of Manoel de Oliveira, who highlights the idyllic landscapes in contrast to the dramatic development of events. However, it cannot avoid a certain rigidity in the dialogues, a kind of theatricality that, no matter how many exterior settings are chosen, ends up being too evident. And although it establishes an interesting reflection on the imposed morality in a Lisbon subjected to the Inquisition in 1554, it is exposed in a too obvious way through an approach that questions heteronormative representation.
