And here I am on my "Sorrentino wave" continuing to check his film. This time his feature film debut L'Uomo In Più and also the first collaboration between Paolo Serrentino and Toni Servillo.

In L'Uomo In Più we follow two different stories about two men with the same name, Antonio Pisapia. One is a famous footballplayer and the other one is a famous singer. What do they have in common? Besides their names, their lives are falling apart, one day they were happy and the next day due to unfortunate events, they were drowned into a deep hole, trying to find the glory careers they once had. Both are dealing with the same issues but in different circunstances.
And like any other Sorrentino film, you need to read between the lines. The end might be confusing for some people but if you think well it all makes sense.

One very important thing that I never mentioned in any other of my reviews of Serrentino's films are the soundtracks. The music is a very important aspect in his films also, perfectly framed in the right moments.

The performances are great, specially Toni Servillo's that once again shines. This man totally enchanted me! There's one particular monologue of his character almost at the end of the film that is terrific.

Overall, a great debut for Paolo Sorrentino and from here we see his improvements as a director until today but with all of his trademarks pretty present already.
