Like a cannibal stew: even if it's not very good, I like the people in it.

Rather than a review of La Marginale, this is a love letter to Corinne Masiero.

More than just a talented actress, she often chooses roles that reflect her concern for important social issues. (For example, she was amazing in the film Les Invisibles about a shelter for unhoused women that was fighting to find employment for its charges before a forced governmental closing), and even beyond that...

In 2021 she was a presenter during the live broadcast of the French Oscars, known as the Césars. During her presentation for best costume design (oh, the irony!) she stripped completely naked on live television with messages written in marker across her body protesting the lack of commitment by the French government to theaters and cinemas post-covid.

I prefer to talk about my love for Corinne Masiero than her latest film, a predictable road trip / buddy movie which at least had the good taste to use a disabled costar for the role of a disabled character.

Sadly, the directing makes the film look like a made-for-tv movie and Ms Masiero is locked into the straightjacket of her two-dimensional character. Still, if I can't admire this movie, at least I can admire her.
