Two years after the death of Jean, Matthias, the coach, decides to take Selime, a young man from the suburbs he believes is gay, to accompany the Shiny Shrimps to the Gay Games in Tokyo, on a trip to pay tribute to their friend who left too early. But after they miss their connection, they find themselves stranded in Russia, in one of the not the most gay-friendly regions in the world. The start of a crazy adventure as incredible as it is perilous.

The perfect mix of comedy, politics, gay sass to highlight very serious issues. The movie shows there's still much to do to fight homophobia around the world and in our own minds, our own environment.

Like leftover shrimp on a platter, it was good when it was fresh. Totally abandoning the concept of a gay water polo team in competition, Revenge of the Shiny Shrimps decides to drop the comedy and focus on homophobia in Eastern Europe. While this is certainly an admirable topic, the lack of focus between burlesque skits and drama pamphlets make this movie like the abandoned scampi: a cold tale with no heart.
