It's like when your older cousin visits and makes fun of your parents to your face but you're too shocked to respond.

Country Cabaret is based on the true story of a farmer who, in order to avoid bankruptcy, decides to convert his farm into a cabaret (and dating site: every time a new character walks on screen, try to guess who they'll be paired off with by the end).

Unfortunately, the director is an intellectual from the big city who makes this film to mock farmers for drinking too much and committing suicide. Yikes. I may not know a lot about country life, but I know enough not to do that.

It's all the more sad when considering they made poor Sabrina Ouazani walk around in skimpy clothes for 90 minutes in a film that doesn't deserve her talent.

I hope the real cabaret this film is based on is more interesting and entertaining than this fistful of clichés made to punch down on agriculturists. I am so tired of films that strive for mediocrity.
