The idea behind the story would be great (at least has some interesting points) but the execution is amazingly bad. We were really disappointed watching this movie…

Let Me In is a unique and provocative vampire film. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Owen who seeks out the friendship of his new neighbor, Abby, but things get complicated when he discovers that she’s not just a girl. Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee are perfectly cast in this film and bring a level of sincerely to their performances that really make this friendship feel authentic. The film explores themes of loneliness, isolation, and the bonds of friendship in a very unique way that’s quite captivating. Let Me In is an unconventional and compelling drama that’s especially well-crafted.

From a great time until now, I've seen a movie that explores the concept of a vampire so well.
People tend to compare movies and imagine how it could have been better and, well, it could have been an Oscar competitor or the best adaptation of the Swedish (is it from Sweden? I really don't know and don't care) original.
It has references to Romeo and Juliet signifying that Abby and Owen cannot be together at a certain point of the play, and also builds a tension when it opens to your imagination as she is a vampire or some other mystical creature
. In that way, many can not explore the potential that the movie gets. As I said at the beginning of my comment, it has been some time since I saw a great vampire movie and this one has pleased me, not for the hype around Chloe Grace Moretz or Dylan Minnette. Mainly, because it uses the original tale from Bram Stoker and apply it in the only vampire movie from recent appearances (disregarding Twilight or that another franchise of vampires and werewolves) excepting Castlevania series on Netflix, which is an animated series and not a movie.

I agree with Liz Noel, this movie has nothing on Let the right one in. It lacked the gloomy and intense atmosphere which you can feel in the original Swedish movie. The original was much scarier because Lina Leandersson brought a darker side to the vampire character. I felt this film was too slow and slightly boring.

Honestly not as bad as I thought it would be. Hollywood does have a tendency to butcher their remakes of european films but this was actually ok. And Chloe Grace Moretz has proven that she'll go places for sure.
