Aubrey's performance was a blast, as always, but even that could not have saved that movie

Expected forgettable romantic zombie comedy, delivered forgettable zombie comedy. I don't know what kind of expectations others have for an obvious fun and forget nonsense movie, but for me it was all okay.

Urgh. I wanted to like this, but it was terrible almost right from the start. Around the 1hr mark I was thinking it must be getting close to the end, only to check and find out it still had 30m to go. The whole thing comes off as a parody, like something you would see as a sketch on a comedy show. Overacted and exaggerated. And while it is supposed to be a comedy, it isn't meant to be a parody as far as I know. Even Aubry Plaza, who is usually excellent in most things, put on a very silly act for this.

I know I'm a bit late to the party with this one since it was released in 2014 but damn was it an excellent party! Aubrey Plaza takes a break from playing characters who are dead on the inside to play a character who is dead on the outside as well. After dying suddenly, she returns to life as a Zombie and reconnects with her family and boyfriend. But the longer she is back the more her brain decays leaving only the angriest (and apparently horniest) parts of her in tact. Though there is a lot of set up, once things begin to devolve this movie is truly hilarious. In this way, it is the Home Alone of the zombie film genre and I loved every minute of it.

The indie horror/comedy Life After Beth is a clever new take on the zombie genre. When Zach Orfman discovers that his girlfriend Beth has returned from the grave he tries to resume his relationship with her, but finds that she’s not the same. Starring Aubrey Plaza, Dane Dehaan, Cheryl Hines, John C. Reilly, and Anna Kendrick, the film has a strong cast that does a good job at delivering the dry, sardonic humor. And, the film presents an interesting zombie mythos that’s quite unique. However, the directing is a little weak and the pacing is rather poor. Life After Beth is a fun little zombie film, but it’s not without its problems.

Quirky horror romance comedy that doesn't fully accomplish what it aims for but I had fun watching it. I really like the idea of taking zombie outbreak and turning it into emotional drama about grief and relationship. I was really invested in the story at first until it became meandering and unfocused. It tries to do so many things and ends up not doing any of them particularly well. It's pretty short but I find the pacing is far too slow. I'm not sure how I feel about the lead character. He has this confused grieving boyfriend look but his motivations are muddled. That said, there are some entertaining moments that I genuinely enjoy. It's certainly not the best but also not offensively horrible.

Yikes! This movie is a chore to get through. I can't remember if I laughed at all but I do know I checked to see how long was left about 6 times. Would've possibly worked as a 20 minute short but geez avoid this movie unless you really are in love with these actors and want to see one of their worst flicks.

Extremely slow and quizzically boring until about 2/3rds through where I started chucking through some absurdity, only to ultimately abandon watching the end.
