Overall, a good "scary" movie but be warned: its strong suit is jump scares and the movie is full of them. Of course, the whole story is based on our fear of the dark and the shadows that move on the walls, etc etc so this movie plays up to it with full vigor. The Diana creature is a novel idea; very frightening in appearance, shadowy, yet powerful enough to make your worst nightmares come true. My biggest complaint about _Lights Out_ was, in fact, the numerous jump scares; you know they're coming, but they still get you and then you're aggravated. Overall, however, I thought it was a good "scary" movie...and it did have one or two gruesome shots in it. This is a "scary" movie, however, not a real gore-fest, so if blood and guts are your bag, this may leave you disappointed. For fans of a good creepy "don't watch this with the lights out" movie, this will probably suit you just fine. The acting was good, the cinematography very adequate (for a movie that is based on things in the dark), and the creepy score all combined to make this a good film. Add to that the very short runtime of 88 minutes and yeah, this was definitely worth watching at least once. Unlike the list that I found this on, I would **NOT** consider this _"So Scary It's Hard to Watch More Than Once"_ but it was definitely worth watching the first time. Just don't know if the overall rating was worth watching again. It was definitely creepy, though, so kudos for that.

Lights Out (2013) is a very short horror film which immediately plays off of humanity's fear of the dark.

In three short minutes, director David Sandberg created a fantastic horror short. He took a singular premise, fear of the dark, and created a grueling three minutes of tension without a single line of dialogue.

There isn't much to say about a film that only lasts three minutes other than my heart was pumping for almost all of it.

The beauty of this film is its duration. We have no time to find anything out, but that's okay. The movie is about being afraid of what runs around with the lights off. We don't have to know the history of the creature, nor do we need to know a thing about the victim.

This is one of those movies that could give your child nightmares for weeks before you even knew they were watching it.
