On paper this should not work, yet it is entirely engaging.

a very engaging film that fell a little flat. It kept me intrigued until the very end however I did feel let down. The concept was great and as a man whom has had to deal with similar issues in my own life it did hit a chord.
Maybe the ending would have been better (looking for a better word) if Bethan or the baby had died during childbirth and Locke ruined his life for something he may have got away with by his family never knowing his dirty little secret but then that is a very unpleasant thought that a child has died and half of the conversations during the film would become obsolete, either that or Locke just crashes the car or commits suicide. We are only remembered for the most recent things we have done.

@1treehillbilly I was afraid that this ending cliche would ruin the film, the actual one surprised me.

@1treehillbilly I really love this movie, I gave it a 9. Had it ended with Bethan and the child dying, that would have brought It up to a 10 for me. That would have been brutal and tragic at the same time.

Tom Hardy gives an absorbing and natural performance.

Is it possible that a film with only one on-screen character, who is in his car for the entirety of the film, could somehow work? Tom Hardy portrays a regular everyday Joe with a not so interesting job that he still cares about, a wife and family who seem utterly normal, and some mistakes you could understand anyone making. Yet, despite what is set up to be nothing interesting, this 90 minute glimpse into a person's life as they struggle to deal with a consequence of a low moment of judgment is fascinating. It puts a very relatable struggle with personal morality, guilt, and navigating a crossroads on the screen without glorifying it or making it more grandiose than it is. This is a slice of life at its most honest.

Anyone who saw similarities with John Lennon and his father? Anyway, unbelievable that in such minimalistic setup for a movie I never looked at the watch. 1 point taken because for a movie I would like to see other characers just for a second. On the other hand, although we don’t see others I had no problem to link all characters on the list, which is usually not a case when they showing up. Perhaps it has to do that in regular movies they usually don’t clearly name the characters leaving it to ‘intelligence’ of the viewer ;)

*Mad Locke: Phony Road*

Tom Hardy driving a car while doing dramatic phone calls for 85 minutes. He portrays a very calm and composed character that seems to know how to navigate through all the shit he puts himself into but everything has it's limits. A good performance from Hardy, I just hate his phony accent it's distracting and unnatural. Despite the limited creativity possible with a one location like this, the movie looks good with all the bright colorful road lights. The drama was engaging for a while but I got disinterested in the last 15-20 minutes so could have been shorter.

>*"Fuck Chicago."*

Not a thriller by any means, a drama at best. Interesting presentation and Tom Hardy is awesome. But hardly the 91% tomatoes or whatever given. The interesting presentation, dialogue and Hardy can't make up for the open ended storyline. Might appeal more to men who have put themselves in that position.

A wonder to contemplate something that should not work on paper; however, his neat execution and Tom Hardy's acting display are so consistent that this simple journey flies by as a whole life changes.

Yeah it is a good acting, but movie is extremely boring, I thought it will direct you to something else towards the end, but no, just boring with no pint at all.
