Such a sad film, for reasons that are obvious within the film's telling, and because of the coda at the end of the movie. Amy Ryan is great here, as are the rest of the cast, in this true story account of one mother's fight to learn the truth about her daughter's disappearance.

A sub-par reenactment following the famous unsolved case from over a decade ago about several hookers who were murdered in the same neighborhood on long island. It more so follows the mother of the last girl found who was responsible for making this story huge as she pointed out the many areas that the police missed opportunities and may have covered things up. The plot development was just a bit sloppy and there were too many little side stories that got tangled up.

Disappointed to find absolute no consultation with any of the families. It seems that in the effort to make a buck off someone's else's story.. it should be a mandatory prerequisite that families of victims should be consulted.

Amy Ryan does a great job on her portrayal of a mother's struggle and is one of the only really good points in this movie.

"Lost Girls" succeeds at showing how incompetent and lazy the police efforts can be, but overall it was a little boring and, in my perspective, it lacked a little depth in most scenes and support characters.

[Netflix] Unsolved disappearances. Actually, a movie about guilt. "Let's take our blame," says the mother. The documentary maker's gaze connects fiction with reality in every moment. It is also about the incompetence of those who claim to defend us. Unfortunately, the proposal stays on the surface. Shannon and Mari's fate couldn't be more tragic. There are hellish lives.

What a horrible film.. First off Terrible Pacing and The plot was just as bad as the writing.. Never thrilled me.. Instead bored the Crap out of me. I was seriously waiting for the end.. Sad what the families had to go through. But this film did not deliver at all!!!!

_Lost Girls_ was gripping in the sense that I kept gripping my phone every time the story slowed down.

We've long passed the point where 'based on a true story' is enough to justify a movie. Sadly, _Lost Girls_ is a true crime drama that is more drama than true crime. If Netflix really wanted us to care about these victims, a documentary based on the true crime book would've had more impact than this investigation watered down with enough drama to stretch it out to 95 minutes.

It was fine. Based on a true crime case. If you're looking for a gritty mystery where everything is solved, this isn't it. This was more focused on making a point about how women are ignored, dismissed, not believed etc when they report a crime or are victims of one. It starts with the police not really invested in finding the missing woman because she was a sex worker. It continues with them dismissing the mother who wants to find her child. It's a fine retelling of the case and the acting was good, but it didn't leave me emotionally invested in any of the characters and felt a little like a midday movie at times.
