Marc, a professor of literature in a Switzerland University, has a reputation for charm and sleep with many of its beautiful schoolgirls. One of those students, mysteriously disappears one night, beginning to endanger his credibility through the University. Eventually he comes under suspicion for part of the police. Things start to get more black to the side of Marc when he begins to spread his charm on the stepmother of the missing girl.

The main character of the story is who can raise all interest in it. His secret and very engaging side is what carries the entire film, justifying the whole mystery around all the events. If it was not for the character and magnificent performance of Mathieu Almaric think it would not be as effective in what it wants to give the audience.

Early on in the film we know that we will witness an extremely beautiful work when it comes to all the visuals, with fantastic cinematography with breathtaking landscapes. Also all the sets are really good, from the cottage where Marc lives, up to the university that has an absolutely incredible architecture.

Mathieu Almaric can be the soul of this film, giving a performance executed with much depth as best as possible. Can always be convincing and hold by a supporting cast of three women (Karin Viard, Maiwenn and Sara Forestier) who can be great as well.

However L'Amour Est un Crime Parfait eventually disappoints at some points. The pace is not the ideal in some parts, and there are other elements that are not simplified for the viewer to have a better understanding of history. Also important situations are never unraveled one hundred percent, we have to draw our own conclusions, having never quite sure what was trying to be transmitted. It can be confusing at times.

No doubt a film where mystery prevails due to great performances. A story with strong flashes of paranoia and obesession and even with failures can entertain until the end, counting up with an interesting twist at the end.
