****A Very Personal Assistant****

Laurel Welk (Emily Kinney) is an aspiring fashion designer, unfortunately being aspiring doesn't pay so when her new flat mate, a personal assistant, sets her up with a job working as a personal assistant she takes it. Unfortunately her first client is injured superstar quarterback Danny Holland (John Reardon - The Christmas Secret), a chauvinistic pig who hates both being injured and having a female assistant. And for Laurel, who knows nothing about American Football, trying to be an assistant to a sports jock is not easy. But as Laurel gets to grips with her new role and Danny realises having Laurel around is not so bad as he first thought things become all the more complicated.
I reckon there is a category of movies which you watch but don't watch, some may say the sort of movie which you put on as background noise whilst you do other things whilst some might say they end up staring at the screen but their mind is elsewhere whilst it is on. I hate to say this but "Love on the Sidelines" is one of those movies you watch but don't take it in. And that is partly down to it being familiar, some might say inspired by the big screen movie "Just Wright" which features Queen Latifah and Common.

But don't get me wrong as whilst "Love on the Sidelines" is not the most attention grabbing of movies it ticks all of the boxes when it comes to what you expect from a Hallmark movie. We have an attractive cast, two characters who are chalk n cheese slowly finding they have common ground and that leads to romance after some cute romantic scenes and comedy. It doesn't take a lot of explaining as "Love on the Sidelines" is so typical but in some ways that is its strength because it delivers what its intended audience likes.
What this all boils down to is that "Love in the Sidelines" is a pleasant and typical Hallmark movie which works for fans of these easy to watch TV movies. But it is the sort of movie which you could end up putting on but never fully focusing on due to its almost generic appeal.

My Score 7/10.
