Seeing Scoot McNairy wrestling with a crocodile and Constance Wu eye fucking the Crocodile was not something I had on my bingo card for 2022, but hey, surprise?

Whenever Lyle catches after people, it was terrifying.

I did not know anything about this film and yet I expected more. The first thing I did not like was kid Lyle's voice, I mean, why would a kid -even if it is an animal- would have a teenager voice? Could they not hire a child for those ten minutes? Then, although the plot is interesting, the execution is not completely entertaining. The climax is unreal and the ending not quite satisfying. Javier Bardem is not as charming as his character needed.

Not sure what to make of this one, I like some of what they fleshed out from the original story, for instance,
Valenti is not a _total_ villain here, and actually cares about Lyle on some level
. I found that a lot of the time the film falls flat on its face and can even be kind of hard to watch. Examples include
any time that cat emoted, as well as the "montage" or more appropriately, _fancam_ of moments from the movie itself during its emotional climax
.

The animation was surprisingly endearing for a live-action remake so I'll give it that at least. On the whole, I'm just bummed about the missed potential, this could have been much, much better if it weren't for these very avoidable mistakes.

This should have been an animated film or a series instead. That huge cgi crocodile is not something I want to see on my downtime.

Cute movie and fun for the family. However, the plot, although it has a sound foundation, was a bit lose with not much background or lead up. This story follows a signing crocodile who has been left behind in the house by the owner to be taken in by the next family who buys the house. Lyle quickly develops a bond with that new family until the former owner returns and chaos arrives. The whole movie is kind of silly as its just a bunch of random songs broken out at random times when it disrupts the plot and new characters and plot points are just added and the original ones are not developed fully.

Quite a peculiar way to promote freeganism based on basically one melodic line. ;>

We can even ignore the fact that all the plot here is a singing crocodile that comes out of nowhere, and the stereotypical E.T.-like boy who attempt to savage the animal. There is worse however: too many scenes portrait children of 8-10 years old constantly looking at their phone, even with baby-tracking apps. Exactly the opposite of what I consider an educative film.

They blew all their budget getting Shawn Mendes to sing a few songs for this movie, so they couldn't afford to make anything else well.

Lyle and Mrs. Primm were giving off some weird vibes. I thought the movie was going to take a turn there. I enjoyed Javier Bardem in this. He gives it his all. Shawn Mendes voice is incredibly distracting, for some reason his voice doesn't match his body?

This was quite a bit more enjoyable than expected.

The movie was delightful and sweet. Although they never did approach the topics of where Lyle came from or why Lyle can sing but not talk. But we did get to see Bardem mostly happy and singing.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

Wholesome fun for the whole family. Fantastic music as always from Pasek & Paul. I'm having trouble deciding if the music in this show is better than Spirited. They are both so good.
