Maanaadu is a smartly written Political time loop thriller that is fast-paced, filled with genuine plot twists which are exciting and welcoming in Indian Cinema. Part of the reason why Maanaadu is thrilling is that, in essence, it is a good masala that hides behind the facade of time-loop. Maanaadu marks a welcome return to form for both Venkat Prabhu, who is at his inventive best here, and Silambarasan TR, who seems to have regained the energy and charisma that made him a beloved star. Despite having few loopholes in the technical prowess, this film is simple in its approach for the masses to appreciate and embrace. The surprise which is effective makes way during the interval and the film hardly loses grip. The performances of Simbu and SJ Suryah are commendable as they face off throughout the film. The concept of the time loop is well executed but has an exciting twist that will be appreciated. With films like Maanaadu, the style of Indian Cinema is getting redefined. The production value, the BGM, and the technical approach for the film is pretty good and this adds to an entertaining experience overall. A great time loop political thriller that should be appreciated more.
