One of the many many reasons that I love indie movies is that they don’t bear that weight of a traditional Hollywood movie. The viewer is not treated like a child in that they need the whole back story. The film begins with a few uneventful scenes and slowly a story starts to evolve. The film is about growing up, crossing cultures and finding your place in the world. The film does not really stand out in any way (other than seeing shades of my 19 year old self in the male lead) but it was a worthwhile 90 minutes.

I didn't have high expectations of this movie due to the mostly terrible reviews it has had. And I only really watched it because Laia Costa.

But. It's not bad at all. Certainly better than reviews suggest. It's a character study of a woman wrestling withe her life choices. And we get to spend 2 or 3 days with her as she gets away from life by hiking in the Appalachian trails. The entire movie can be seen as a metaphor of what she is going to do next in her life. The shots of the wilderness are beautiful too.

It's 85 minutes of intrigue and natural beauty.
