Earnest, Stimulating and Galvanizing

Major is an effectual and compelling homage to an unsung hero, whose grit and valor had no boundaries. With multiple movies made on the 26/11 massacre, Major stands out courtesy of its humility and honest presentation of a real hero's life and none better than Adivi Sesh, who has just outdone himself entirely. Remarkable and Brilliant performance from him. Director Sashi Kiran tries to pull in some commercial tropes which work fruitfully and don't look out of place. A powerful and chest-thumping BGM heightens the entire 2nd half and lits up the screen. Though Major has its share of flaws, that stimulating and stirring finale makes this one a true winner.

The first forty minutes of the film give you an idea of Sandeep's early life before the army and why he became obsessed with men in uniforms. Just sit through this. The screenplay is very subtle, neither it excites you nor gets you complaining. The second half is all about the Taj Massacre and here Advi Sesh shines quite brightly. Seasoned performances from Prakash Raj and Revathi. Sai's performance is adequate. Overall, a true winner in terms of technical aspects and emotional value.
