The movie isn't terrible but it isn't great either it is what I rated it "Good". The action scenes definitely fills a hole left by the plot and pace of the movie. This movie towards the ends feels like its rushing towards the conclusion; I believe another 30 minutes added to the movie would have resolved this feeling hopefully there will be an extended version upon DVD release. I liked the growth you see in Maleficent discovering herself throughout the movie and how we get more focused screen time on her and not Aurora. The acting was pretty much on point and you will find your self laughing here and there throughout the movie. Definitely a fun time for a date or with family. But if you are expecting it to top the first movie unfortunately as a sequel it falls behind mostly due to Disney's forced happy endings like always why does everything always have to be happy Disney WHY?!!!

No spoilers ahead, only mentioning things you can see in the trailer .
this was a pretty mediocre Disney film in general. not bad by all means, but a bit like... unnecessary? maleficent is never the mistress of evil, or portrayed as the villain she was upon the original material, ends up being a bit of a bland version of a powerful villain recurring to sarcastic remarks here and there to make her relatable. it's not about the performance of the actors, is about how she was written. Michelle Pfeiffer came with a LOVELY villainess (an evil queen that totally fits into Disney's villains) to kinda replace the one maleficent was supposed to be, but in the end the movie feels a bit like a Mish mash of several ideas already seen and filmed. the whole idea behind maleficents origins was vastly similar to avatar, and not in a nice way, more like in a "I copied parts of your homework and branded as mine". I'm hoping they will start making original content soon, these reboots and reinterpretations are getting old.

For real, I didn’t liked that BUT I’m requesting a Zack Snyder’s head and cut the head of the villain

The production design is very good, it expands the story, what they tell is not bad, the actresses stand out. I liked it

Well well well, I’ll start off by saying that it’s a cute and enjoyable movie. But wow, plot hole after plot hole. Like that time where the flying creatures were trapped and didn’t consider flying over the organ to safety. And that time the king was stabbed in the kidney region and his wound appeared on his forearm.
But, aside from the ridiculously unthought-out continuity of plot, I did enjoy it. Had a few chuckles and smiles, some good CGI and that little hedgehog thing was amusing.

Pretty childish and middle-class, but overall entertaining as was the first movie. That fucking queen should've died by the way, not turned into a goat.

What the fuck? This is some Game of Thrones level shit! Michelle Pfeiffer is worse than Queen Cersei, oh the ruthlessness. And then maybe Disney came in and said, "Okay, i know there's a mass murder going on but u guys gotta become best friends in next 5 seconds alright, and while you're at it, make the evil Queen a goat, yeah that should work, that would surely balance the scales, THE END."

It wasn't as good as the first one and the story felt super unrealistic (e.g. how would the queen have planned this that well and how could they just stop fighting and be friends after the losses on both sides) but I still enjoyed it for the CGI and nice animations of the various characters from the Moors.

Aurora was the actual worst. I get that she’s kind and beautiful, but she has to make the most idiotic choices ever.

First she just believes that Maleficent cursed the king without even saying anything? That doesn’t make sense and for her to believe it so quickly completely goes back on the bond that they have built up to this point.

Second, after a very aggressive dinner on the queens part, she just automatically trusts her? her naivety literally leads the fairies into the trap.

Third, she knows that fairies are going missing and never thinks to bring it up to phillip or address it with the queen? She just waited until she found the fairies by accident to even address that she knew they were missing.

no issues with any of the other characters, but Aurora really set me over the edge on this one.

Ok

I enjoyed watching this film.

- I will probably even "re watch" it.

- I would even recommend to friends and family they watch it.

- It was heartwarming and definitely had that "Disney" feel to it.

- Great Cast, and amazing acting, really good music. (I especially liked the song at the end credits about angels).

Watch it on an afternoon / evening with a friend you enjoy spending time with, and a bowl of popcorn.

I know this is a children’s film, well older children, with the fairy tale feel to it.

I watched the first, but I actually preferred this one.

Great special effects which led you in to that fantasy realm. Not too cheesy with the fairytale element.

I’m probably a tad old for this film, which I’m happy to admit watching alone with no excuse of watching it with a younger member of the family.

But, these films normally manage to do so well by making it enjoyable for all age groups. Subtlety throwing in adult content, which a child would never notice. I do actually really enjoy a lot of these family films, it appeals to the child who remains inside us no matter how old we get.

Just remember it’s aimed towards slightly older children and not adults. It a great family film.

“What an awkward situation.”
- Maleficent
I am surprised by the reviews. This is on par with the first. I enjoyed it. Could be my low expectations of Disney.

It lacks that different reading of the traditional tales that "Maleficent" (2014) had, and shamelessly embraces the traditional form of Disney stories, providing big fireworks but little depth. The director at the service of visual effects, and not vice versa.
