There is a good film in here somewhere, yet the disjointed structure undermines the powerful message at the core. A mess then, but a worthy one.

A good concept but dogshit execution. 15 seconds into the first scene where he's looking for his family I figured it was all in his head. At that point your just along for the ride as you have to pretend to not know what the middle and end of the movie would be. Had they leave that part out it would be a touching movie... Now it was just a dogshit wannabe shutter island.

Despite Shia LaBeouf's decent efforts with his performance, but the film itself is a piece of shit. I would go as far to say it's pretty unwatchable. It looks and feels so cheap that I wasn't surprise this got completely forgotten after the 2015 TIFF screening. Until now it gets the light of day with an actual release in theaters, for which didn't last very long.

Predictable, unsympathetic characters written so shallow, less than caricatures. Felt a good 45 minutes too long, and that's impressive for a film with less than 90 minutes of story. [spoiler]Yeah, we get it, his pal is dead. Stop beating us up with it.[/spoiler]
