**Unfortunately not nearly as effective as the original film, but still a better than average remake. However, the music is superb, more modern, and at times reminiscent of the original soundtrack.**

One of the best remakes. It's very unsettling and tense, it made my skin crawl and I felt disfomfort throughout the film! Very creative update of the classic but still remains the sleaziness and brutality from the original. I liked that they decided to go withfirst person POV because I love it if it's done well. I think they pulled it off as it gave intimate look into the insanity through the maniac eyes. I love Elijah Wood but honestly I was quite skeptical how he would fit the role but he delivered. He's super creepy and unhinged in this. It has low kill count but they're all very disturbing. The score is legendary, the cinematography and effects are really well done. I really enjoyed this one.

I thought it was dumb. From the intro where he takes the scalp off a woman from just touching the knife on her head to meeting an online woman who happens to be a slut (acts like a porn actress because that's what women do dur) and he unoriginally kills her to the song from silence of the lambs, More

Mannequinac!

Having not seen the original film that this is a remake of, I have no frame of reference. Entering into it oblivious to any sort of bias or guideline, this Maniac proves to be a nifty shocker, one that is not without style even as it puts churnings in your stomach.
