Netflix John Woo knock off should be called John Won't. I wanted to see _Maria_ as little as they wanted to make it but in the end we both did our jobs. They pieced together a string of martial arts clichés and I strung together enough words to make a review and then we each moved on to something we actually enjoyed. There is not one single aspect of this film that doesn't define 'amateur'.

They should not go for the family of a retired murderer. These felipine action movies with fast and bloody fights and shootings are very cool. Here the one who distributes death is not Iko Uwais but Cristine Reyes

They should've kept it all Filipino and leave the stupid American/Chinese/Japanese bullshit behind. The quality overall was pretty good, but the annoying cliches just ruined it totally. Would've been an easy 7+. They could build on this (which probably will never happen) and do a part 2 where she'll move on you see more depth of her past. If in that version they'll leave the dumb behavior out of it, it can be very good. The production quality of the movie itself is not bad at all! Most characters were even ok, even tho their dumb mixing of English and smack talk. Not their fault they had to keep doing the dance. Would recommend this if you're in the mood for some mindless action with some slight story. But don't expect much more.
